The Escape Artist

When we moved into this house I was so happy to see that there were knob-type door handles on all of the doors in the house as opposed to the lever type that my ingenious toddler so deftly figured out how to operate. This meant that he 1. couldn't get into the pantry on his own to find my secret stash of cookies "teetees", 2. I might still be able to go to the bathroom or take a bath in relative peace (yeah right!) and 3. an extra 1/2 hour of dozing in the mornings because my "sun" cannot shine on in. Well that all changed this weekend when Dusty locked himself out of the house....

I was at my baby shower (thanks Stacie!) and G and Dusty were home, Dusty went outside and inadvertently locked himself out because of the stupid exterior door knobs (whoever designed them should be fired!). After trying every door, and window in the house he realized he was outside, G was inside and the only way they could be reunited was to teach G how to open the door.... Sigh. After 20 or so minutes of coaching Grayson succeeded at letting his Daddy back inside. We later giggled about this and commented on how "amazing" our child is; little did we know that life would never be the same.

It started this morning, I knew he was awake but didn't realize he was actually up. Just as I reached for my door knob it seemed to turn on its own and in comes Grayson. Then tonight, Dusty stayed in Cascade for work so we are here by ourselves, I have put G down and am on the computer when I hear strange noises coming from upstairs, when I go into the entryway G is staring back at me telling me he needs to go potty (he honestly went at least 6 times in the 1/2 hour before bed - all a ploy for treats).

So here's to the end of life as we knew it, and finding a new hiding spot for my "teetee's".

Swimming anyone? It's a Baby Pool....

Eventhough we know (or at least think we do) many of the details of this little babe - I came across this website and thought it would be fun to see how right we are!! So the person with the best score (the website figures it for us) after I have the baby will get a special prize!!

Here's what we know so far:

  • Ultrasound showed this baby as a boy. While these have been wrong in the past, in my opinon this one was pretty unmistakeable.
  • I am scheduled for a C-Section at 9:30 on 3/17 and don't feel like he is coming any sooner than that, but it is a whole month away. My actual due date is 3/21 (G was 6 days late)
  • I have a feeling this baby is huge (even bigger than G who was 9lb4oz)

Best of luck - I will keep you updated!

There's no business like Snow business!!

For the past 2 months we have pretty much sat in the house and watched the snow fall. While there were moments of "oh we should go out and play in it" they were quickly put to rest by a cold gust of wind hitting the house, or remembering that we lack any and all appropriate "snow gear." Trust me, this house-boundness has taken it's toll on both Grayson and I; we are both craving spring when he can go out, ride his bike and squish bugs to his hearts content.

Yesterday it finally warmed up enough that a marshmallow-like snowsuit wasn't necessary to brave the elements. He had so much fun stomping through the "nhow" (you really have to hear him say it, wrinkled nose and all, to appreciate it fully). Daddy and him even had a small scale snowball fight - until G's hands got too cold!
